No Match for Me

First, let me apologise for missing two months of blogging, but I can safely say I wasn't idle. A lot happened during that time. I started to focus a bit more on writing music, school started back, I got engaged, started planning a wedding, and subsequently had writer’s block because I had a difficult time focusing. Nonetheless, I saw a post recently that helped me to refocus and somehow resulted in a lesson, and of course, I decided to share it with my readers.
There was a video circulating on Instagram of an alligator trying to eat a turtle. The turtle was steadily on its journey but the predator decided to intervene. Every time the alligator bit down on the turtle's shell, the turtle would slide out of its mouth. As you could probably imagine, the alligator was getting frustrated. A meal was usually easy to get. It was difficult for the alligator to eat the turtle because the turtle has a hard, protective shell. Eventually, the alligator got tired of its failed attempts and the turtle walked away to safety.
I couldn’t help but see the lesson in this. The turtle didn’t have to do anything, even though the alligator was in its path. Turtles are beautifully and wonderfully made with a solid, protective shell. A shell that subsequently, an alligator's mouth couldn't destroy. No matter how hard the alligator tried, it couldn’t break the turtle’s exterior, force appeared to make an easier escape. The turtle was protected from its enemy.
Often our faith is tried and tested. Stumbling blocks fill our path, causing us to slow down and our journey is delayed. Similarly, our path is often blocked by other people who do not have our best interests at heart. We end up in the alligator’s mouth in human form and all he or she wants to do is break our spirit. Just like the turtle, we need to understand that we are protected from our enemies and we could easily walk away unharmed. Falling several times is one thing, but being able to get up and go again in a season of trials, is definitely a reason to celebrate.
I thought it was so beautiful how the turtle peacefully continued on its path. It was as though its focus was on completing its journey rather than on the brief interruption. Often we spend too much time focusing on the fact that our path wasn't perfectly laid out. We don't expect interruptions or trials and when they occur, our first instinct is to give up. Whatever journey you are currently on, remember that the road may not always be easy. Expect the unexpected! Be like the turtle and never lose focus or sight of what you were aiming to achieve in the first place. Regardless of how many alligators try to stand in your way, peacefully and purposefully continue your journey.
I am starting a series of wedding blogs soon so make sure that you subscribe to get updates about my journey.
Love & Light xx
